From one Covid bride to another, I see you 🤍 I also love what you illustrate here about partnership, how it's a matter of sharing and trusting. There's a great Brené Brown video where she talks about how marriage is never 50/50, it's just a matter of checking in with each other and balancing as best you can.
Ooh I forgot about Brené Brown’s take on this when I was writing! Such a good reminder. And in hindsight, proud to be a Covid bride. As my cousin said this week, maybe one day your wedding photos will end up in National Geographic 😂
This inspired me to go figure out my enneagram, haha! I really love your Covid wedding photos. Your bridal mask was beautiful, even if it wasn't quite what you envisioned. I think the most beautiful part of marriage is growing with somebody and learning from each other to become a better person. It all goes back to those lessons we were taught as children, doesn't it? Sharing, empathy. Happy anniversary!
Loved this piece! Learning that partnership is not always (or maybe not ever) going to be an exact equal 50:50 split is so important. As is learning to empathize with your partner and support them, and of course them doing the same for you when you need it.
I like the idea that balance in a partnership ebbs and flows and you must continue to readjust in order to maintain stable. This visual of surfing that wave, readjusting as needed to keep balance is one that will stick with me
Sam, my man. I am with you about sharing dishes. Ask him about his thoughts on sharing pizza? My husband counts how many pieces in his head and splits it across how many people. We often fight about the difference between splitting and sharing food. He refused to share a soup with me once because we could never knew how much each person had. Literally, what?
I love those improv dancing videos. So incredible.
You’re so right about balancing sounding nice but not really being a lived in experience once enough life has happened.

Thanks so much for reading Madeline! It’s been a tough but important lesson to learn for sure.
